How many times have we seen it happen? A friend or work college Starts a new fitness regime with all the best intentions in the world only to find themselves back to square one about 6 or 7 weeks later.Motivation has got to be the key to a successful fitness plan….Setting a goal and sticking to it can be difficult when we get a few months down the track and life gets busy again and no matter how hard we try we can’t seem to find the motivation we had at the beginning of our fitness journey.

I came across this article today which I thought had a couple of good ideas to stay motivated.

Staying motivated: To stick with fitness plan, start off slow and be realistic
While many people start off the new year eager to begin a new workout regime, trainers and other experts say planning and setting realistic goals are key to ensuring that exercise does not become a passing interest.

“They’re doing hours upon hours right off the bat,” he said, explaining that overtraining can lead to physical or emotional burnout.

To make sure an exercise routine is challenging yet manageable, White suggests picking up a fitness magazines or hiring a personal trainer to determine the best types of workouts for meeting certain goals.

Motivation is the key to success no matter what you are trying to accomplish. The way to continue to strive to do your fitness plan or any other is to have one. Write it down where you can see it every day. If there is a body type you’re striving for – get a picture of it and post it on your board near your desk, on your fridge, on your nightstand and on the mirror of your bathroom. As well – when you write you plan – give it a time table. I want to lose twenty pound, I want 6-pack abs, etc – and I will attain them by 12/1/09. If you give yourself a date, and a goal – then recite it to yourself every day – reminding your sub-conscience mind – it will not get interrupted by life again – It will be part of your life!
